
Media Framing , the Components of the news item,and the six levels of listening

Within the frame of the project Democratic and Civic participation of youth, implemented by the Alternative Information Center- Palestine, in cooperation with Action Aid, the second course of Media Training was commenced on Saturday, July, 24th 2021. The training was attended by 17 youth participants from Bethlehem and Hebron Governorates. Participants started the training with an ice-breaking exercise conducted by activist Ahmed Taqatqa and then moved to be trained practically on the components of the news item. Trainees were introduced to the features of news items and the characteristics of the headline as well as the sections of the news story. Likewise, the six levels of listening (listening, interpretation, response, remembering, understanding, and evaluating) were examined among participants to help in better implementing the training. The training included a discussion with participants and concluded in requesting trainees to write a news item to be discussed in public on the level of participants. The training was facilitated by Ayed Houshia, Youth Program Coordinator in addition to receiving Nassar Ibrahim, executive director of AIC- P who introduced participants to the features of a newspaper article and the difference between it and the news item. The next training day, scheduled next Saturday, will focus on Mobile Photography and Video Production.
